It was a blizzard today in Hokkaido.
Even though it’s already mid-March…
Cherry blossom season in April feels like a story from Tokyo, not here.
I wrote five postcards for Postcrossing today.
Here are the postcards I sent
a Japanese folding fan postcard
This one is going to a woman in the U.S. who works as a social worker.
She didn’t have any specific preferences, so I just wrote about something I’d been thinking about today.

So I wrote about something i’d been casually thinking about today.
Most Japanese people have naturally dark hair, even though many of us dye it.
Our eye color is usually dark brown or black too.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean black eyeliner suits everyone.
In Japan, people tend to wear makeup in a similar way for work, going out, or even dates.
Eyeshadow is usually quite soft and sheer.
It often has a bit of shimmer, but nothing too bold or glittery.
Colors like brown or pink are common — soft, natural shades that blend well with the skin.
You don’t really see people wearing bright, bold colors that often.
(Well, maybe in places like Harajuku in Tokyo, where fashion is more expressive.)
So yeah… brown eyeliner feels softer and more natural,
but it also loses a bit of impact compared to black.
And if you pair it with brown eyeshadow…
everything just kind of blends together.
This is the eyeshadow I’ve been using lately.

It’s the “Silky Soufflé Eyes” by CANMAKE.
As the name suggests, it has a soft, gentle finish.
It’s really easy to use for everyday makeup.
It’s also pretty affordable — around 700 yen.
I have an olive undertone, so I usually need something slightly grayish.
This one is perfect for that.
And it’s not too intense, which makes it easy to use daily.
Blending carefully or using multiple brushes…
that’s not something I want to do at 5 a.m.
I just apply it quickly with my finger — in one go.
It’s the best.
But this shade has been discontinued…
I don’t know what I’ll do when I run out.
I’m sure there are people everywhere who feel like
“all my favorite products always get discontinued,” right?
Not just makeup — even snacks.
Sometimes you find a flavor you really love, and suddenly it disappears.
I used to complain like,
“Why does my favorite gummy always disappear,
while those weird black cherry ones stay forever!?”
But I got tired of complaining,
so now I just quietly stock up whenever I find something I like.
It’s late at night, so I’m having some chocolate mint ice cream.

There was a little quiz on the package:
“How many Super Cups equal the height of Mt. Fuji?”

Do you know the answer?
